4 Scenarios for the crematorium of the future
We call them TRUST, SMOOTH, SHOWCASE and CRYSTAL
On the basis of the principle study we developed four scenarios for prototypical crematoria which were to correspond to today’s possibilities of a suitable cremation with all its requirements. International relevance and a neutral aesthetic approach, irrespective of religious beliefs and cultures, were to be consistent factors in this process.
A basic creative principle also became the key to catering to different cultures: working with light and colours. Coloured glass, for example, has always been an important design element in the architecture of sacred buildings, and this is exactly what we wanted to revive.
